Eric Watson supports the Australian Dyslexia Association

Dyslexia affects some 10% of the Australian population and is best understood as a persistent difficulty with reading and spelling.

Eric is one of those Australians who have experienced difficulty with reading and spelling due to Dyslexia. His early school life proved challenging as he struggled to learn his ABC's until year 3, and having to repeat year 6. This resulted in a degree of hardship due to negative remarks about his different learning requirements from class mates. A feeling of frustration became regular for Eric, however he found a means for channeling this frustration. Triathlons. All though Eric still experiences some frustration due to his Dyslexia, he has the confidence and drive to use it to his advantage. This same confidence also allowed him to complete his apprecticeship and with that backing him, he is able to focus on what he loves and trains every day!

The Australian Dyslexia Association strives to educate and assist Australians with our without Dyslexia and help to identify people who may have it so they may be assisted as best as possible to learn efficiently. Eric knows first hand the kind of difficulties people can encounter with Dyslexia and is a firm beleiver in the key aims of the ADA. He hopes to be an example of how someone with Dyslexia can still compete and be the best at what they do and be confident in themselves and their abilities.
